MoU KUM between UMK
University of Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) will cooperate with state government to improve green technology consumption efficiency, especially in solid waste management and use of plastic based on petroleum in this state.
UMK Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr. Noor Azizi Ismail, saying through the cooperation, parties UMK will very hard help the state government in developing zero waste policy in Kelantan.
UMK, he said, through BioKejuruteraan Fakulti and Teknologi signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Kelantan Utilities Mubaraakan Sdn Bhd (KUM), Kumpulan Perbadanan Menteri Besar Kelantan (PMBK) subsidiary involved in associate industry utility.
He said, agreement sealed yesterday to provide Pembangunan Mampan Teknologi Hijau master plan Kelantan State for Kelestarian Bandar Pintar.
Noor Azizi represents UMK signs MoU involved, while KUM represented his Executive Director cum PMBK Chief Executive Officer, Abdul Rashid Mohd Yusoff.
"MoU expected can giving benefit to Kelantan people in ensuring this state free from garbage especially plastic," he said today.
He said, the cooperation for a start for UMK and state government to conduct research comprehensively towards potential replace plastic package including plastic bag and former polystyrene with biodegradation plastic.
At the same time, he said, the cooperation as preparation find alternative for plastic based on petroleum for biodegradation industry that need to be expanded.
"We should ensure this industry can start and developed smoothly. This cooperation involve research by collaborative between KUM and UMK to implementing research and added value product innovation from biodiversity result that be in this state.
"It indirectly will give benefit to students and UMK staff in the future in terms of joint research," he said.
